RSS As a Form of Advertisement and Media

RSS is a new and rising form of social media these days and has many assets when it's used in advertisement or as a tool for research. RSS is standardized but it can be made interactive and monetized as well.

RSS Feeds are especially useful with article marketing. They fit right into the sidebar of blogs and websites so that the syndicated content of the feed is regularly updated when it's fresh.

When you're writing articles for marketing, you're creating content for the web, feeding the search engine spiders, so to speak. This is the content that is searchable and indexable in the major search engines, or any engine you decide to submit it to. Using RSS Feeds is a secondary way to index and submit content that is searchable in a digital format.

RSS can be searched by title, or tags as well as keywords and topics. You can add the tags of your choice to the article or blog post in the feed. Tag these posts with terms that will be thought of when doing searches. You can get creative because they don't have to be the same as the keywords in the articles.

Gaining popularity with the feed format are audios, mp3s, and podcasts. The equipment necessary is not too expensive and can be found without too much trouble. Just a microphone and the software necessary to listent to the audios, a service that is normally included in the purchase price of computers, mobile phones and PDAs.

Also an up and coming method of advertisement and entertainment are videos that are easily adaptable to the RSS format as well. The video file is simply put into the feed and syndicated as new content the same way as blogs and audios.

On the subject of popularity, there are many people nowadays using RSS readers, or aggregators. My personal choice is the igoogle reader, which frequently features power readers including Thomas Friedman of the New York Times, Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post, several top columnists from the New York Post, Markos Moulitsas of the Daily Kos, Michelle Malkin of Hot Air, and Chief Political Correspondent of Slate Magazine John Dickerson. The relevant popularity of your own content can be received and filtered through a favorite RSS reader in an up to the minute fashion. The content updates even as it is published because it's in digital format, so it's the know first, and know fast way to get up to date and relevant content.

If you're thinking about using RSS feeds to advertise, then you may want to consider using Feedburner or FeedBlitz services. Here, you can optimize your feeds for maximum interactivity by making them compatible with any reader, more browser friendly, bookmarkable to many social networks, including links to your latest posts on various networks, and intermitently add photos and geotags to the feeds as well.

These feed services enable you to publicize your feeds with banners and widgets, opt for the email subscription rather than the feed reader style, ping several services to notify them of updated content, give you the options to allow your posts to be reused by readers or password protect your updates also.

Another great feature of feed services is that you can monetize your feeds with AdSense for Feedburner and use other Ad campaigns at FeedBlitz. And of course Feedburner offers statistics to help you analyze your visitors and subscribers or troubleshoot problems with your feeds.

FeedBlitz will allow you to create newsletters and autoresponders to attach to your newsletters that will help automate your tasks of follow up and bring simplicity to completing sales that would otherwise be left undone. You can create surveys with FeedBlitz to maximize your knowledge and help you to research your field. FeedBlitz also offers a sliding scale pricing option for email subscribers only. All the RSS subscriptions remain free.

Once you optimize your feeds, you can submit them to directories that are specifically for RSS feeds. There are a long list of directories and some for other languages, so you can make your choices personally when you search.

Another membership I recommend when using feeds is the Elert Gadget, because they are a Google account so each page you create is an indexable and searchable page in Google. Each gadget also has a feed, and the option to add an additional feed to the RSS of the gadget. There is an extensive listing of directories available at Elert Gadget and the feeds for the gadgets are updated by the EG staff regularly.

RSS is becoming more of a viable option for a secondary type of advertising nowadays and an excellent means of tracking and analyzing data for blogs, podcasts, videocasts, and more. I've found it quite useful to do research with the reader as well as submit the rss data as new content in feed format.

How to Install an RSS Feed in WordPress

Obtaining and adding fresh new content to your website or blog is one of the most valuable tasks every webmaster must complete on a regular basis or at the very least, see to it that it is added one way or another. RSS feeds can be a great way to get a steady stream of fresh valuable content added to your site regularly. This is not to say that you shouldn't also publish your own unique content, you should do that on a regular basis as well. You can turn your visitors into returning customers by making sure that there is always fresh, relative content available for them to enjoy.

There are many different add-ons, widgets, and plugins available free across the internet that make installing an RSS feed into your website or blog extremely simple. If you are using a WordPress blog as your CMS then adding a RSS plugin to automate the process of importing feeds to your blog is a snap. There are several available, free of charge right from the WordPress Plugin Directory.

Your first step to getting your plugin is to login to your WordPress admin panel and click on Plugins and then Add New. To find a plugin simply search RSS and a whole list of them will appear. I have tried a couple different ones and prefer the KB Advanced RSS Widget. Although I have in the past and do currently still use others. When making your selection, keep your site in mind and try to choose one that will fully meet your needs. Most are the same as far as operation, but there are variances in appearance.

Once you have chosen a plugin to install simply click on Install to the left of its description and then Install again on the page that pops up. Next you will need to click to Activate the plugin.

From here you will need to go to your Widgets that you can find under Appearance. All you have to do from here is place your new RSS widget where you would like it in your sidebar and enter your RSS feed URL and any other options that your specific version offers. Viola, Your plugin is installed and showing a new RSS feed working on your blog.

As wonderfully easy as it is to ensure your website or blog is continually being updated you should never rely on this, or any other source, as your sole source of providing updates to your site. Remember that the content from these feeds are used by many, many people deeming it not original. It is very important that you understand that every site needs unique, original content added regularly. Without your own unique content, your site is not truly yours and the traffic that may across your path most likely will not return.

RSS is a Blogger's Best Friend

Hello and welcome back to our series on RSS Submission and Syndication for the beginner. In this series we have been covering the basics of what RSS is but in today's article I'm going to discuss what I think is the biggest advantage of RSS Submission and Syndication. The blogger by nature is a very small fish in the enormous pond that is the internet. A single blogger would normally have next to no hope for any kind of reward, whether that's personal satisfaction or financially based, if it wasn't for the RSS system. In reality, the blogger is the exact example of how specific and individualistic the internet can be. When teamed with RSS submission, the blogger can take that individualism and give it an audience.

Blogger's, people that spend a lot of time write internet web log's about their lives or topics of interest is where so much heat, fire, and passion over the internet started in the mid-90's. These blogger's are what initially drove the internet as a marketplace for commerce, now known as e-commerce. With how much writing the typically blogger does, you might think that they blog for a living, and the truth is - some do. Of course, you can find lots of so-so blogs out there, but the gifted blogger has an amazing potential to produce income.

The primary factor in this is the RSS Submission and syndication. RSS Feeds are how one blogger can write a single thought one a web page and have it blasted on many other web sites and message boards across the internet. It gives one blogger the power to have their voice, opinions, or even sales pitches heard across the vast expanse that is the internet. It is for that reason that the blogger not only should, but must include RSS Submission and Syndication in their operating plan for success.

Driving Traffic to Your Website With RSS Feeds

While many internet users readily click on the RSS button on their preferred websites to keep themselves updated on news, sports, blogs or videos, few seem to realise the role that RSS can play in the improving search engine ranking on Google or driving traffic to their websites.

RSS Feeds Demystified

In order to use RSS (Really Simple Syndication) need an RSS feed. You can think of an RSS feed as a description of one or more pages on one or more websites in a standard format that can be read by millions of programs on the internet. Many websites now have an RSS technology built in. One such popular platform is Wordpress. Every time the website is updated and the page published, an RSS feed is created or updated on the websites. Static sites that don't have RSS feeds can install an RSS script to produce RSS feeds for your website.

These days exciting new software are being launched to leverage the power of RSS to get the word out about your website to allow visitors to find your website. Entire websites are being developed and launched as RSS aggregators which are websites dedicated to serving you with content from other websites and being aggregators they use RSS technology they are set up and want you to submit your content to their sites. Google themselves are investing heavily into RSS starting with their feedburner.

If you have articles, blogs or videos on your website you could be missing out on tons of traffic if you don't have an RSS feed. The internet is hungry for fresh content. When you submit your RSS feed to RSS submission sites they will be automatically pinged when you update your blogs or website content. You can take one piece of content and upload it to 10 different websites. Now this one piece of content is equivalent to 10 pieces of content and you can share these 10 different RSS links with different RSS submission sites and maximise the traffic that you have on the internet.

Driving traffic to your blog or website

The simplest way to get traffic with RSS is to use a blog on your website, preferably a wordpress blog. Each time you update your blog with a new post, an RSS feed will provide readers with a taste of your content and a link to your blog where they can read the entire content. This is one way of getting more visitors to your blog. Ideally your blog should be hosted on your website, so that visitors to your blog can visit other pages on your site and learn about products and services you offer.

While there may well be internet users who like what you post on your blog or website, they have better things to do than visit your website every day to see if you have posted anything new. These readers would normally subscribe to your RSS feed and automatically receive an email update alerting them each time you update your blog or website with content. A subscriber also has the option of adding a script to his or her blog so that visitors to that subscribers blog will also be able to read your blog. Readers who have content related to your subject will flock to your blog or website to check out the content thereby creating a viral effect.

Content submission to other sites

While adding fresh content to your own website or blog is a great traffic strategy, another equally effective strategy is to seek out blogging sites with a high rank that are related to your market and post on these sites. By piggybacking on these high traffic websites, you can gain excellent short term exposure and with quality posts create recognition for yourself as an expert in your niche. Once this is achieved you will get a flood of visitors to your site who will then subscribe to your RSS feeds.

Using RSS with your autoresponder

An increasingly common problem that many online marketers face is that their autoresponder emails often go unopened. A little known strategy to overcome this challenge is to send the autoresponder emails to an RSS feed instead of a group of unlikely action takers. Subscribers of RSS feeds will be more responsive to the information provided, since they are actively looking for the information that you are providing. They are most unlikely to ignore messages that are delivered as a part of feeds they have subscribed to compared to mail delivered to their junk mail folder.

To ensure the success of your RSS traffic generation strategy, you should provide quality content to attract your subscribers and avoid losing existing subscribers and gaining new ones. Webmasters should also remember to encourage visitors to subscribe to RSS feeds by having a dedicated area on the website for inviting people to subscribe

What is RSS and How Can it Make Your Internet Life Easier?

Most of us love to surf the Internet and visit all the sites we like to follow. It's fun to see what's new at our favorite sites! However, visiting all these Internet sites can be very time-consuming. For example, if you have 10 sites you like to visit each day, then you'll have to surf to each one and look around to see if any new content has been added that catches your fancy. The process of surfing and perusing these 10 sites can take up a big chunk of your time, and it can be frustrating too.

RSS to the rescue

RSS stands for Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication. It's a way for websites to publish their content or posts in an RSS Feed that can be read by another site or other software called a Reader. This means you can stay up-to-date with the content changes of the many blogs and websites you monitor by looking in just one place instead of actually visiting each one individually. You can quickly review and read all the new content from all of the sites you enjoy by following their RSS Feeds in a Reader. This saves you time and effort. A site will most likely make available to its visitors an RSS Feed. An RSS Feed is in the form of a link. You Subscribe to these sites using the RSS Feed so you can receive updates of their content, meaning new posts, in your chosen RSS Reader. Using RSS Feeds to aggregate all of the most recent news or posts, from all of your favorite and regularly visited sites in one convenient Reader can make your Internet surfing life a lot more enjoyable. With RSS, it will be easy for you to see what's up and new at all of the sites you like to follow, and you can do this in just one place.

RSS Icons

You will often see an RSS icon on the pages of the site you want to Subscribe to. These RSS icons provide the link you need to Subscribe to the RSS Feed. Sometimes the RSS icons will have a text link too. You will usually find the RSS icon for a blog located somewhere near the upper right-hand corner at the top of the blog, but these RSS icons can be placed anywhere on the blog. The RSS icons will vary in color and size, typically they have an orange color. If you click on this RSS icon, then one of two things will occur. You will either see a web page displayed with a dialog that allows you to Subscribe to the RSS Feed in a Reader, or you will see a web page with a lot of code shown. If you see a web page with code, then you should copy that page's URL (the URL will be displayed in the browser Address Bar) and then add that URL to your Reader. You will need an RSS Reader to take advantage of RSS Feeds. One very popular RSS Feed Reader is the free and online Google Reader.

Google Reader

Google Reader is my favorite RSS Reader, I currently follow over 120 blogs using Google Reader. I like to follow the RSS Feeds of blogs with subjects such as; blogs and blogging, website design, running a small business, small business marketing, Civil War history, and some blogs about writing.

Using RSS makes life easier for me!

Having a place where I can check on all of these blogs and see what has been newly posted is a great time and work saver. I'll check on my Google Reader account two or three times a day to see what's up with the blogs I follow. I like Google Reader a lot, and recommend it as your RSS Reader.

So, if subscribing to RSS Feeds is something new to you, and you like to keep track of multiple blogs or sites on a regular basis, then give RSS and Google Reader a try. I think you'll appreciate the time you'll save, and the convenience RSS provides.

RSS Feeds Marketing - How to Get Free RSS Traffic

RSS is the abbreviation of Really Simple Syndication. It is also commonly known as a feed, or an RSS feed. The primary function of the feed is to allow the site owner to syndicate content to other sources. Content can be syndicated to feed readers, forums, social networking sites, or blogs. Since content can be syndicated so easily, webmasters started to think about how to acquire more exposure by marketing their feeds. Here are some feeds marketing techniques that you may find useful. You can get free traffic to your site just by promoting your RSS feed.

Method 1: Acquire subscribers.

Having a feed means that you can build a readership base. Visitors can subscribe to your RSS feed, and whenever you post a new blog entry, they get an update. They will then return to your blog to read your content. The key to success for this method is to post killer content. Visitors subscribe because they anticipate high quality content from you. If you can post high quality information, you won't have any problem acquiring new subscribers.

Method 2: Submit to feed directories.

There are a few well known feed directories on the Internet. People visit these sites to find feeds from interesting sites. If you have your feed published in these directories, visitors may end up subscribing to your feed. Note that these are highly targeted readers. They subscribe because they are interested in what you have to say.

Method 3: Promote your feed in your profile pages.

By adding a widget or code snippet on your profile pages, you can easily display your RSS feed on your profile pages. The people who browse your profile will be able to see the content that you have posted. If they decide to read more, they will click through and end up on your blog. This is a great way to get some free targeted traffic.

Method 4: Promote your feed on other people's blogs.

WordPress has a widget that allows bloggers to add feeds to the sidebar. You can always network with other bloggers and promote one another's RSS feed. Some bloggers own very popular blogs. Having your feed promoted on such blogs can bring you a surge in traffic.

Method 5: Promote your feed on social network sites.

Social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook allow members to add feeds to their account. These sites pull headlines from the feeds automatically when there is a fresh post. There are literally millions of members on these sites, which means that you can get a decent level of traffic.

Note that all the above methods require you to write catchy headlines. If you don't write headlines that catch your reader's attention, no one is going to click on the links and visit your website. The traffic comes only when people click on the links.

RSS can be an easy way to drive targeted traffic. Most sites just require you to do a one-time setup. Once a feed has been setup on a social site or a blog, there is nothing more you need to do (except to post more killer content).

How to Kick-Start Your RSS Subscriber Count

One the most common questions I'm asked is how I built-up so many RSS subscribers to my blogs.

Most bloggers report back numbers of around 10-50% of their overall traffic. So if they get 100 visitors to their blog each day they often only have about 10-50 who subscribe with RSS.

In my case I have nearly as many RSS subscribers as I have daily readers. In fact I'd say I convert about 90% of my visitors into RSS readers.

WHY IS RSS IMPORTANT?

Before I tell you how I do it, let's look at why you should care.

RSS is a relatively new technology to subscribe to content. People generally use email as a means to maintain a subscription. RSS isn't a replacement for email, and you should offer both an email and an RSS subscription option on your blog, but RSS definitely has some clear advantages.

1. RSS is "pull" technology. This means that people who subscribe with RSS explicitly ask for it because they pull the content down into their RSS feed-reading service.

Email on the other hand is "push" technology because it's pushed out to people. While you may choose to sign-up to an email newsletter you don't determine when you receive the emails and most people have to place filters so they don't get overrun with junk mail. You don't want your messages to be filtered away and this can't happen with RSS.

With RSS the reader is in complete control and can unsubscribe any time with ease. As a publisher (a blogger) this is a good thing because it means you can be certain that your RSS readers are really reading your content because they are requesting it, there is no risk of spam blockers killing it.

2. Your RSS readers are usually a very targeted audience since they choose to read your feed. You would have already read my previous article about selecting a target audience so you understand why this is important.

3. RSS distributes every blog post you make. While some bloggers complain that people reading their blogs through RSS is not a good thing I completely disagree. People reading what you write, regardless of whether it's on your actual blog or through an RSS feedreader, is the important thing. RSS gives your audience another way to become a fan of YOU, and the more fans you have the better.

4. RSS is efficient. The simple fact is RSS is used because it makes Internet users lives easier. It's a tool for bringing together content for quick consumption and if you want to make sure your content is read you have to make this option available.

RSS is only going to become more and more popular and you don't want to be left behind.

HOW TO GET MORE RSS SUBSCRIBERS

It's great to have RSS readers, but how can you boost your RSS readership?

It's not easy and in fact I'd be lying if I guaranteed you the same results I have had. The problem is largely a knowledge gap. I'd wager that the majority of people reading this article don't have a good grasp of RSS. That's okay, you can learn, and it's important you do because then you will be well equipped to teach your readers.

I didn't understand RSS 12 months ago. I tried it out and learned how it worked. Then I wrote an article to teach my readers how to use it. Then I made some clear links available on my blog that pointed people to RSS subscription options. Now whenever I write an article or email about RSS I make sure I provide links to teach people how to use RSS. All of this helps to increase my RSS readership.

Depending on your target audience you will face different levels of resistance to the technology. In my case I've had traffic coming to my blog from a technically savvy demographic. If they don't know how to use RSS upon arriving at my blog it's usually not long until they do.

In your case your blog may have a less savvy audience so it's your responsibility to bring them up to speed. Write an introductory article on RSS designed for your audience written in a language they will understand. Make sure RSS links are prominent on your blog and talk about RSS whenever you can.

RSS 1.0 Has 3 Standard Modules

Welcome back to our short series on RSS Submission and Syndication. Today I am going to briefly talk about RSS 1.0. The reason I'm covering it is because RSS 1.0 is still a widely used format to this day. If you have read my other articles than you already know that RSS had gone through a series of changes before landing in it's current 2.0 format, but the 1.0 format had a couple of unique aspects to it.

In late 2000 a group of developers lead by Rael Dornfest had worked on and finished RSS version 1.0. This version of RSS went back to the RDF format that RSS previously used. In version 1.0 the extended functionality was needed and added to allow developers to write the code to suit their needs. There were 3 basic modules included in RSS 1.0. They were:

The Dublin Core Module: It includes specific data - creator, title, creation time, publisher, and so forth.

The Syndication Module: It gave hints for content syndication in relation to how often it was updated.

The Content Module: This allowed for sending the actual text of an item.

Now while all of those sound complicated, don't worry - they are. The complication of RSS Version 1.0 is one of the major reasons for the revision to 2.0 at a later date. However, a lot of feed directories till accept submissions from RSS 1.0 feeds and they still syndicate a lot of material based off of the version 1 format. And now you know what sets version 1.0 apart from the others between the complication and the 3 main modules.

Google Reader Allows You to Stay on Top of Change

Google is a leader in internet technology and well known for providing products that makes the experience for users better. Recently Google introduced a new Reader update that takes the Google Reader application from a simple RSS feed reader to a super tool that can help you stay on top of changes on all your favorite websites even if they do not have an RSS feed.

Not every website owner is on board with RSS feeds. That doesn't make their website useless, but it used to make it much more difficult to stay current with what was happening on the site without a feed. That can make your job harder if you use RSS feeds to stay up with trends for your business needs. With the Google Reader update, the days of having to manually go to sites without feeds on a regular basis to check in on changes are over.

Amazing Potential for Internet Marketers

While the update is fairly new, it has a lot of potential. You can create your own feeds to watch the websites you follow that do not have feeds. You also may be able to follow your SERPs in real time, too with this particular technology. There are a lot of possibilities for this new Reader design to be used to benefit internet marketers.

With the known applications for the current version of Google Reader, you can follow trends more easily. You are able to actually follow the content on a website verses through a blog, so there is the ability to catch trends sooner. This means a lot when you are trying to stay on top in the marketing game. We all know that internet marketing is all about staying current and being right up on the latest trends. If you use the Reader to help you do that then you will find it makes your job much easier.

Get It Now Before It is Too Late

The Google Reader is a top tool for internet marketers. Google products are trusted and well known. They are also easily accessible. It will take no time at all for internet marketers to start talking about the changes in Reader and to start telling others about how the Reader is helping them with their marketing efforts.

Once the word gets out about how useful the updated Reader is, everyone will be using it. While that is great that so many people will get the perks of the Reader, it also means that those perks will be less valuable. With everyone using the Reader, everyone will be on top of trends and able to track, monitor and move quicker than before. The edge will be gone. So, for you to really get the most out of the updated Reader, you need to get in on it now.

Get you Reader updated and start using it to help you become a top internet marketer. You will get all the great benefits before the crowd. Being one step ahead is always a good thing when it comes to internet business.

Why RSS Directories Vary in the Number of Feeds Each Has Listed

Welcome back to our series on RSS Feed Submission and Syndication for the newbie. In this article I'm going to briefly talk about why each RSS Feed Directory varies in the number of feeds they list compared to the other directories out there. The reasoning behind why each directory lists such a different number of feeds is really pretty simple.

*Some directories do a better job of attracting people looking to submit RSS Feed Syndication to their sites. Typically directories require feed submitters to sign up to their sites, and the mechanism they do this by can be made to be more attractive.

*Not all directories have the same inclusion standards and rules. For this reason some directories are going to have feeds that might be more suitable for certain information, while rejecting other feeds that don't fit into their theme.

*Some directories do what's known as "Scraping." What that is is when they take HTML documents that they find online and turn them into RSS Feeds that they then feature in their lists. They do this scraping by using software that automates the process entirely, making for a constant stream of good unique content. It's almost similar to how a search engine's bots will operate when looking for new pages on the web.

It doesn't matter what the exact numbers are, almost all feed directories are a good place to submit information for inclusion. The number of feeds available online is constantly expanding and always growing rapidly. It is very easy to harness this type of system for new information to include on your websites or syndicate your information to other sites.

Discover How RSS Distribution Can Help You Earn Cash Online

Apparently, RSS feed distribution is catching up to other marketing trends these days. RSS, which means Really Simple Syndication is a way to collect or distribute information from a blog or website, so that a reader can gather the exact information he or she needs without going out to search for it manually. It has to be set up, but you can do this once and forget it. If you use Microsoft Outlook, you'll find that it is built right into the software too.

There are two sides to this RSS distribution model. You may the a researcher or reader who wants constant fresh information on a particular topic. This is a good way to get the information without the fluff of fillers, etc. Readers in this sense are the ones being advertised to, not the advertiser. The people who stand to earn cash from this business however, are on the other side of the distribution spectrum.

The biggest "hoorah" about RSS distribution is being fermented on the other side of the RSS divide. The people who create RSS feeds want to distribute their information, and in the process earn money for their efforts. If you are a marketer, this is where it gets exciting. There are services which will allow you to distribute your RSS information automatically, as you create them. The up-side is worth the efforts. Here are two obvious benefits to this.

One benefit to sending out a list of RSS feeds to a distribution list, is the back-links that are created from this. By having a large number of relevant back-links coming back to your website, search engines will rank your website or blog better and help you get targeted traffic later on.

What is RSS & Why Should I Care?

These days, many folks are carefully trying their hand at web 2.0 marketing strategies such as social - from Facebook and Twitter, all the way to the wonderful world of blogging.

This new world of marketing also brings a new world of terms and concepts that are not easily grasped by the average business owner or salesperson. Not because they are complicated, rather because they are new.

One big term and concept that I get asked about is RSS.

=> What's the bid deal with RSS anyway?

=> Well, it's not a big deal. It's HUGE!

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication but don't let the name fool ya, it's not all that simple, even to most smart folks. Here's the quick glimpse into the mighty power of RSS.

The blog has truly revolutionized the web. One of the main reasons is that blogs are updated so often with new content. The web loves new content so that's part of what makes them so popular with surfers and search engines alike. Fresh content on the web is like fresh water to a thirsty farmer.

Because blogs are updated so often, it became necessary for viewers to visit these sites more often so as not to miss the great fresh content.

=> To sold that time consuming problem, along came RSS...

RSS is a tool that allows for visitors who enjoy your site to essentially bookmark your site... only better. Instead of having to visit your site on a regular basis, RSS will send any updated content right to your subscribers - the moment it is posted.

The RSS feed as it's called, sends the information to special RSS Reader that can neatly organize and display all of the subscriber's chosen feeds (your's & others). The most popular of these (and my RSS Reader of choice) is Google Reader. It's free and like everything Google, it integrates with other Google tools as well.

The big deal...

The golden ticket for all small businesses and sales pros is to gain the trust of our target market. This is why we blog, it builds massive trust fast. RSS allows for your content to be followed and read quickly, keeping you in front of your audience every time you post with no extra effort on their part. As long as you are delivering valuable content, this will translate to sales for your business.

Another big benefit...

As a blog owner you are constantly looking for fresh content that will dazzle your target market. Personally using RSS to bring the best content to you will offer a constant flow of great ideas. Now, use these ideas to springboard fresh and useful content that will make your subscribers and viewers love you like a high school sweetheart.

RSS is a critical blogging tool, both for syndicating your voice to the world and aggregating ideas that inspire you and bring value to those you want to please the most.

The best place to start using RSS is to subscribe to my blog by clicking the RSS or Follow Me links that can be found at the link below.

E-mail Marketing is Jurassic - Get on the RSS Bandwagon!

RSS is an acronym for "Rich Site Summary" or "Really Simple Syndication." RSS is basically a feed which you can make available to users that automatically lists the updated content from your website or blog. If you have a fan following or regular readers of your website, it allows them to keep informed and up to date about the latest information you have on your website or blog. It saves readers the time of browsing through all their favorite websites to check for new information and allows them to view their favorite site headlines which have been updated with new information listed. RSS is the convenience you are providing to your readers to easily access your information. By allowing your readers to view your website updates through an RSS feed, you are also effectively optimizing your website and building relevant traffic. This is also referred to as RSS optimization.

RSS Optimization has replaced E-mail marketing strategies which updated readers with e-mails when any new content was put up on a website. E-mail notifications turned out to be pretty inconvenient because no one had time to read their e-mails. E-mail marketing was not proved to be an effective Internet marketing strategy as it just took up space in people's inboxes and kept getting marked as spam. RSS feeds have allowed people to reach out to the public and create opportunity and a reason for people to keep visiting the websites they find interesting.

Not only are RSS feeds convenient for readers but they allow companies to track and analyze the kind of traffic they are receiving. RSS feeds can offer businesses essential information such as the amount of people subscribing to their feed, how many times people are coming to visit their website, and what interested them to come and visit. Having an RSS feed will allow your website to substantially improve its Google page rank which will further increase its credibility. RSS feeds allow users to view updates based upon their preferences and interests. By analyzing the trends of your website from these feeds, you will be able to develop the next steps to your next Internet marketing strategy.

If you have a company blog, RSS feeds are perfect for informing users about a new post or topic being discussed on your blog. RSS feeds also update content such as breaking news, podcasts and videos. It effectively distributes content not only to the reader who's subscribed to your feed but displays it to others who visit their blog or website. Did I mention RSS feeds also provide your website with great back links? Because RSS feeds are based on headlines, make sure your headlines include important keywords that will be useful for the ranking of your website. Feeds enable you to work on your brand awareness as it allows you to incorporate logos and images. Make sure to distribute your feed to all important RSS search engines and directories so people can access your information.

Once you set up your RSS feed, the important thing is to keep updating your website with fresh content. Fresh content will enable the RSS Marketing strategy to work effectively bringing more traffic and followers to your website.

Enhancing Your Article Marketing Strategy Through RSS Feeds

Article marketing may be the most utilized way to promote a specific website and create massive traffic or back links to the website, earn a hefty income through article writing, and to build one's reputation as an expert on a specific field of interest. What many do not know is that the articles that they write can actually be used as promotional items themselves.

Article promotion can offer huge amounts of benefits and one of them is your ascension in page rank in the search engines which in turn will again boost website traffic which is what everyone wants in the first place. Articles have ratings, too, and by promoting your articles, you give way to better article ratings which may increase traffic (of course people still look for quality in what they read).

Again, the respect and trust of the readers are some of the most important things that you have to earn in order to make it big in the article marketing arena and by promoting your article you set yourself up as an authority on your topics. People would rather purchase from people they trust and I know anyone would agree to that.

One effective way to promote your articles is through the use of the author's individual article RSS feed which is commonly seen on the author's profile page which you can reach by clicking on the author's name. By clicking on the name, you will be directed to a page where you may view the author's RSS icon or sometimes it shows as "subscribe to this author" link.

To see a sample of these RSS icons, you may want to visit the following article directories: HubPages, Bukisa, Idea Marketers, Article Alley, GoArticles, Helium, Suite 101, ArticleBase, and EzineArticles. These sites show the RSS icon once you click on the author's name.

Once you have your own unique author's RSS feed, you can now start submitting your posts to RSS submission sites and there are lists on some of the best RSS sites if you go to PageRank or Alexa in the Link Builder's Toolkit, especially if you want to go manual in your submission and not utilize the article marketing automation tools. All you have to do is access the list every now and then because these lists are being updated and you may want to update your submissions as well based on the page ranking of the sites.

Always include a link to your RSS feed on every article that you submit so that if anyone comes along and shows signs of deep interest on the articles that you write, then he or she can easily subscribe right on the spot. Loyal readers are also great advertisers and they can generate leads as fast as any other tool.
